Abstract

Tungsten carbide (WC) is known to have similar activity as the noble metals in cataltic rEaction. WC has attracted interested for research in heterogenous catalysis. In this study, nano tungsten carbide is prepared by mechanical alloying using activated carbon prepared from palm kernel shell. High surface area activated carbon was prepared by chemical characterized using FTIR, XRD, SEM and BET single point respectively. Finally, the mechanical alloyed nano WC, prepared using chemical activated carbon was chosen for the catalytic decomposition reaction of hydrazine. The prepared nano WC indicates positive catalytic decomposition of hydrazine.
