Abstract

In this paper, plume behavior of two heated square cylinder located side by side at various distance inside an enclosure has been studied numerically using lattice Boltzmann method in the range of 106<=Ra<=107. The double-population lattice Boltzmann formulation is used as the governing equation. Two dimensional nine-velocity models (D2Q9) are used for the computation of both velocity field and temperature field at all simulated Rayleigh numbers, Ra. The computational results demonstrated that the flow pattern, numbers, size and formation of vortex and also the heat transfer mechanism are critically dependence on the Ra and the distance between two heated inner square cylinders.
