Abstract

Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is the modulation technique for the current broadband wireless mobile communication system due to it’s high spectral efficiency and robustness to the multi-path interference. However, one of the main disadvantages of using OFDM system is inter-carrier interference (ICI). The occurrence of time variation within an OFDM symbol leads to ICI to arise which resulted in loss of subcarrier orthogonality. For this reason, the performance of conventional OFDM receiver system degrades significantly due to the presence of irreducible error floor.
