Abstract
Load flow analysis is used in planning and designing the future expansion of power systems, as well as in system operation. Load flow also provides steady state condition for other analysis such as stability studies, short-circuit and outage security assessment. From the basic load flow formulation, such as given in references [3], more sophisticated algorithm have been developed that handle complex devices such the Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC). Practical load flow analyses also require good graphical user interface and efficient data management system. As power engineering continues to develop many new requirements will continue to drive the need to modify load flow analysis software implementation.
