Abstract

A satellite telephone is a mobile phone that communicates directly with orbiting communications satellites. Today, it is possible to send voice, data, pictures, video, stills etc to distant lands at unimaginable speeds in analog and digital formats. Depending on the architecture of a particular system, coverage may include the entire Earth, or only specific regions. They pack the power of instant global voice, fax, and data communication, all at the size and weight of a notebook computer.
