The Global Positioning System (GPS) has been used widely for positioning in marine navigation including in hydrographic surveying task. Advanced techniques such as Differential GPS (DGPS) can be used to minimize the errors for better results. With DGPS technique, users can improve positioning accuracy to at least a few metres and even to less than one meter depending on the differential technique, the receiver equipment and the type of GPS measurements (Abousalem, 1997). Nowadays, DGPS services used for hydrographic surveying can be separated into Local Area DGPS (LADGPS) and Wide Area DGPS (WADGPS).
