Abstract

The purpose of flood frequency analysis (FFA) is to select an appropriate distribution type for representing a hydrological variable of interest at a site or in a region. The search for the proper distribution function has been subjective of several studies. The commonly used procedure is to first choose a hypothesized distribution, then estimate the parameters of the hypothesized distribution and finally apply the goodness of fit to see if the hypothesized distribution can be rejected or not
