Abstract

A glass system of (70-x) TeO2-20Nb2O5-10Li2O-xSm2O3 where 0 ≤ x ≤ 4, has successfully been made by melt quenching technique. The spectroscopic characteristic has been studied by IR and Raman spectroscopy. The IR absorption and Raman scattering were measured in the range of 400 cm-1 - 4000 cm-1 and 100 cm-1 – 1500 cm-1, respectively. It was found that the glass network is dominated by the presence of TeO4tbp and TeO3tp.
