Abstract
This paper presents the design of a dual-operation microstrip antenna operating in the L-band region. The design starts with a rectangular structure. It is then segregated into two parts, C- and T-shaped segments. Electromagnetic simulations were then performed. The first two resonances were being controlled by the two segments, separately. Variations of the CT-segments dimensions were investigated. An electromagnetic coupling feed was chosen to avoid any direct contact with the radiating elements. Upon achieving an optimum performance, the antenna was implemented on a RT/Duroid material and tested. Experimental investigations include the one and two-port measurements. Both the simulation and experimental results were then compared and analysed. It was found that the antenna operates well near the designed frequencies of operations. Good agreements have been achieved for both the simulation and experimental results.
