This paper discusses the effects of return stroke parameters on the lightning induced voltage waveforms at one end of an overhead distribution line, calculated by combining the equivalent circuit of a transmission line with a method to calculate the electric field. The modified dipole technique is used to calculate the electric fields on and above the lossy ground due to return stroke current as the inducing source. The forward difference method is used to solve the telegraphers equation using the modified time domain model dependency of conductivity, cloud height of the Agrawal. Finally, the induced voltages on ground line height, peak channel current, and striking point distances are presented.
