Abstract
Cognitive-ultra wideband (CUWB) offer remarkable enhancements from both system in terms of spectrum utilization and high data rates transmission. As the SNR per dimension in UWB systems is typically very low, MB-OFDM UWB in MIMO technology with channel cognition at both ends of the link can achieve extremely large improvements in the information rate. In this paper, our objectives are to present research challenges on UWB and cognitive radio (CR) based on MB-OFDM system. Specifically, we discuss the challenges in physical layer and MIMO-MB-OFDM. Later, we proposed multidimensional turbo product coding (MDTPC) that could be applied in MIMO-MB- OFDM for CUWB. The MDTPC of MB-OFDM UWB is believed to be able to provide an adaptive system that has the ability of channel awareness in cognitive radio environment with efficient spectrum utilization, lower BER and increases the system throughput.
