Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the levels and factor that contributed to stress among secondary school teachers. Approximately 400 teachers from 16 school from Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor were selected by using cluster of cluster in this study. The data were collected through questionnaire, which consists of work overload, interpersonal relationship and environment workplace (Adminstrative Self Indeks-ASI) and Emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal achievement (General Health Questionaire -GHQ). The alpha croncbach for this two instrument were 0.7514 and 0.8827. As a whole the result of the study, shows that there not differences between these factors if tested on teachers gender. Teachers reported that their stress level were only in moderate level. Personal achievement factor was the most influential in contributing to the self stress. Study results also shows that there were no significant relationship between stress factors and age, number of children and teachers experience, however personal achievement factor still have something to do with experience.
