Abstract

Chemical investigation of the stems of Vitis vinifera L. Belgie variety has been carried out. The stems were extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and methanol sequentially. Purifications of the methanol crude extract were carried out by using vacuum liquid chromatography and gravity column chromatography to afford four stilbenes. The structures were elucidated by various spectroscopic methods including ultraviolet, infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H, 13C, DEPT, 1H-1H COSY, and HMQC) spectroscopics as two silbene monomers, resveratrol and 3,4,5,4’-tetrahydroxystilbene oxide, and two stilbene dimers, Hemsleyanols A and (+)-Balanocarpol.
