Abstract
Optical Burst Switching (OBS) is a promising technology for both future all-optical networks and Internet. However, since there are no buffers in optical networks, bursts contention remains a major problem in OBS. In this paper, we propose a route optimization algorithm based on Ant Colony Optimization taking into consideration the streamline effect, a special characteristic of OBS. Simulations and emulations are being carried out to evaluate the proposed solution. We expect high throughput, less packet loss and efficient use of the bandwidth.
