Abstract

Cognitive style is being focused in many educational psychology researches currently. Therefore, this research is executed in order to identify the relation between students’ cognitive style, which consists of perceiving, concentrating and remembering process, in the usage of forums in e-learning. Questionnaire was distributed to 94 final year students of SPP, SPT and SPK of Faculty of Education, in relation to the utilization of forum in e- learning (10 items) and cognitive style (15 items), using the Likert scale.The result of the research shows that the utilization of forum in e-learning by the students is average with mean 3.45 as well as their cognitive style in using the forum with the mean of 3.38. On top of that, the results from the independent T-test sample shows that there are no significant differences of the cognitive styles between genders with á=0.05 (p=0.5 13). It is hoped that this research would provide new dimension towards students’ cognitive style and their way of thinking in strengthening their understanding by using forums provided in the e-learning.
