Abstract
Nickerson (1998) says, One way forward for Business English research is not to consider language as separate from the corporate environment within which it is used, but rather as an intrinsic part of that environment. (pp. 281-294) The above statement says a lot about the relationship between language and corporate environment. The specific language used for a specific environment requires a careful analysis of the discourse community in terms of what are the norms, conventions and purposes of the speech events in that particular discourse. Thus, communication is one aspect that needs to be looked at to understand what is going on in the organization.
