Abstract
This paper introduces a new method in modeling shoreline change from SAR data. The new method is based on the utilization of velocity bunching model in coastal erosion model. The shoreline change model is modified based on the empirical model of SAR velocity bunching. The velocity bunching equation is integrated with coastal sediment transport model to determine the rate of shoreline change. The real time RADARSAT-1 data are used in this investigation. In addition, the Canny algorithm is used as automatic tool for shoreline edge detection. The study shows that there is a significant relationship between velocity bunching model, in situ measurements and Canny algorithm
