Abstract
This chapter concerns with modeling and estimating the delay time parameters based on operational data in the context of warranty case study. The modeling process involves the estimation procedure in the case of HPP( Homogeneous Poisson Process). These include sufficient objective data from MTB (Malaysian Truck Bhd) to implement in the maximum likelihood approach. Building on the most appropriate of these ideas, we applied two types of distribution to make comparison and achieve better estimate for the delay time parameters which are: (i) Simple model applied with exponential distribution and (ii) Mixed exponential model. The work is based on failure data record and number of defects found at inspection of the vehicles which has been operated for some time (the operation time in month) and under some inspection regime. Finally the likelihood function of the observed failure and defect arrival at inspection data is derived and optimum rate of defect arrival, mean delay time and the best of distribution of the delay time is discussed. According to Baker and Wang(1997) has been discussed the delay time distribution with constant in simplest model and focus on resulting the probabilistic itself but on estimation of the model parameters and their error from records of failure times and number of defect found at inspection of machine.
