Abstract

Problem solving method is one of the teaching methods used in the classroom. It is a teaching and learning process based on experience and the need for a student to think actively. Problem solving is one of the practice methods to generate a lot of ideas in order to develop solutions that are more practical and effective. In this method, the process of problem solving is done accordingly to a certain systematic and organized steps. The purpose of this study is to identify whether the application of problem solving approach is used in teaching technical and vocational subject at the Faculty of Education. This study has been conducted using qualitative approach and the instrument that used is interviewed protocol. The obtained data through conducted interview was transcript and then analyzed by using coding method. The number of respondents being interviewed were seven respondents are finding of the study that showed that all of them applied the problem solving approach in teaching technical and vocational subject. They also agreed that the problem solving approach brings more benefits and advantages to the students
