Abstract

Act 514, Act of Safety and Health of Work 1994 was a gazette out on 1994 February, 24th with the purpose of blaze the trail for every act which is control and manage the Safety and Health in working place. This Act based on some principle. One of the principles is self-regulation. According to the Act, employers which have 40 or more employees must have one policy and working management system related to the safety and health at the working place. Started with the policy of Safety and Health for their employees, employer should establish the committee which is related to the safety and health and implemented it. Thus, one research related the safety and health on the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) of Pasir Gudang (one of the Public Training Institute under Man Power Department, Ministry of Human Resource) have been made to identify the policy and working management system at the Institute. Three objectives have been setup to the research. It is to identify the policy and working management system practice in the ITI of Pasir Gudang, second objective to evaluate the level of safety and health on the employees at ITI of Pasir Gudang and third objective to give some suggestions and good things added on the working management system related to the safety and health at the Institute. The data have been collected from the respondents which are worked at the Institute (staff from administration division and lecturer form technical division) through by theoretical method, conversation method and questionnaire. Doing theoretical method is to get the premier data (from the journal and material as references) before designing the questionnaire for the respondent involved. The cross-tab analysis method is used to analyses the collecting data from the questionnaire. The research has found the policy of Safety and Health for the Institute which is the main objective in the research. Hence, the suggestions on the working management system related to the safety and health issue can be made it. Thus, from the result of the research can help the top management of ITI Pasir Gudang to enhance the level of safety and health at the institute as the Act 514 need.
