Abstract

Due to the obvious increased use of online transactions, online businesses and consumers are vulnerable to online fraud. The study's goal is to investigate the technological information access factors that contribute to online fraud based on the experiences of internet fraud victims. The major research on Malaysia give no indication of fraud but concentrating instead on the pandemic's dynamics. Online shopping opened up new market opportunities for consumers and businesses, but it also introduced new risks, such as phishing. The qualitative research examines the experiences of cybercrime victims to obtain insight into human behaviour and determine why they are induced to make an online purchase. The samples used in this study are E-commerce online fraud victims. The study concludes, based on seven phone interviews with online fraud victims, that levels of trustworthiness to e-commerce are low if scammers can obtain information access. People's proclivity to buy, on the other hand, is unaffected by their awareness of their environment. The main objective of this research stems from such an observation on cybercrime at a time when digitalisation of information access is rapidly progressing.
