Abstract
Some advantages of the piezoelectric fan as a cooling tool are small size, low power consumption and low noise. The effect of the magnet in the performance of multiple piezoelectric magnetic fans (MPMF) is realized in the enhancement of fan deflection. The study's aim is to consider a new fan deflection equation by including the location of the magnet and distance between magnets as new parameters. The equation was validated by experimental results using Response Surface Method (RSM). The optimized value of location of magnet and the air velocity at the fan tip were compared with other MPMF designs. As a result, the optimum location of magnet is 63.7%, equivalent to 44mm from the origin of the piezoelectric fan which cause an optimum deflection and velocity of air; 27.5 mm and 1.62 m/s2respectively. The percentage error for fan deflection and velocity are 2.04 % and 7.67% respectively for the RSM vs theory while 5.42% and 2.21 % respectively for the experimental vs theory.
