Abstract

Humans carry out various activities in everyday life, where the most frequently performed are normal walking activities. Loading under this human activity has been adopted by several studies for developing hip joint replacement in vivo or in vitro. The presented research performs a von Mises stress investigation on CoCrMo-on-CoCrMo bearing in normal walking activity for efficiency and cost. 2D finite element strategy has been chosen to solve numerical processes. One full cycle of normal walking has been divided into 32 phases and selected five phases as representative in the loading scenario. The von Mises stress increases along with the magnitude of applied force in the loading scenario. The Larger of von Mises stress distribution also occurs as von Mises stress increases.
