Abstract
Herein, series of Dy2O3 loaded alkaline earth and tellurium bearing borate-based glasses were prepared through melting and quenching process. The attenuation in physical, optical and photoluminescence attributes were analysed and discussed in details. Both the density and molar volume factors were improved with loading of Dy2O3 content owing to higher molar mass (372.98 amu) and larger atomic size of dysprosium (228 pm) of Dy2O3 over lower-molecular-mass (103.619 amu) and lower atomic size of (219 pm) strontium oxide. The optical bandgap values were decreased with Dy3+ ions concentration ascribed to the generation of non-bridging-oxygens occurred due to the substitution of Dy2O3 to SrO in the composition. The photoluminescence properties were ascertained under near ultra-violet exaction. It was identified that the SBTZBD5glasses owes strong Judd-Ofelt factors since the Dy3+ ions settled in more asymmetry sites compared to that in other concentration doped glasses. The radiative features for the 4F9/2→6H13/2 hypersensitive transition were optimum compared to other transitions and those are highest for SBTZBD5 formed glass. The photoluminescence and chromaticity outcomes suggest the SBTZBD5 complex borate glass is useful for solid-state lighting, laser functionalities including backlighting in display device under UV excitations.
