Abstract

The present study aims to produce a natural drug-incorporated nano-based wound-dressing material with high biocompatibility and enhanced antibacterial efficacy for promoting rapid wound healing. Electrospun curcumin-loaded poly(ɛ-caprolactone) (PCL/Cur) membrane is successfully fabricated and characterized using standard techniques. The fabricated PCL/Cur membrane showed a higher antibacterial effect against the bacterial strains, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli; whereas, a very less cytotoxic effect was observed on the mouse fibroblast (L929) cells. This study concludes that PCL/Cur membrane could be a simple, biocompatible, and efficient material for wound-dressing applications.
